This weekend I was back in my old stomping ground...Manchester. It was wonderful to be back, I literally squealed with excitement as I drove into the city. I lived there for four years but as with everything, looking back you definitely don't appreciate it as much as you should.

Where is Manchester?
Manchester is in the North West of England.

What is there to do?
There is SO MUCH to do. Great nightlife, fab restaurants and lots of culture.

Some of my favourite things are:

If you're feeling fancy: Cloud 23.  It's expensive but worth it if you want to treat yourself. You also get the best views of the city from up here.

If you're looking for a great atmosphere: Alberts Schloss. I probably spent more time here in my last two years in Manchester than any other bar. It's really fun at the weekend, with live music. Plus, there is a photo booth downstairs so what could be better.

If you want to go out for drinks: Gasworks, The Alchemist or Revolution de Cuba

If you're a student and want cocktails: The Font. Great food and £2 cocktails. Enough said.

In December, the Christmas Markets are a must!! Mulled wine and bratwurst.

I would also recommend visiting the Northern Quarter. There are lots of quirky shops and cafes to visit during the day...including the Cat CafeYes, real cats(not at all for me, but lots of people love it).
By night there are loads of bars, restaurants and clubs. I looove Mint Lounge if you're looking for suggestions. It's 'Funkademia' on a Saturday night...great music!!

There are some great museums and art galleries to visit too:

If you're visiting Manchester and looking for something to do, why not check out what's on at one of the theatres? The Royal Exchange is probably my favourite, I've lost count of the number of times I've been there. The Palace and The Lowry are also great, I've seen great performances at both.

There are many wonderful things to see and do in Manchester but most of all, try and speak to the people. They are the very crowning jewel of the city.

  1. Manchester is on my list of places I want to visit - you've just spurred me on with this post!!

    1. Glad you enjoyed it - it's a fabulous city!! xx
